About Inkawasi Awana :

InkawasiAwana is an association of 25 Quechua-speaking weavers who live in Incahuasi, Lambayeque—a small community locatedat 10,000 feet in the Northern Andes of Peru. These weavers use the same back strap method that has been used for as long as one can remember. This association was founded tocommercialize their textile production, increase household incomes, and ultimately, to empower the women of the association. With their weavings, these artisans make a variety of products such as: shoulder bags, purses, laptop cases, placemats and more. After beginning to sell their products in nearby artisan fairs, these women quickly began to attract national and international attention for the beauty and quality of their textiles.
