Amka community (Colombia)

About Amka community : Manuel is Inga Putumayense. Since he was a child in his community he learned crafts, thanks to the teaching of grand mother and teachers at school and high school. Their artisan works are sold informally through social media. Lizeth is Inga Nariñense. From a very young age, she was taught in her community of origin to make handicrafts that represent her Inga culture. For her, weaving is to continue giving life to her grandparents who inherited their knowledge. The handicrafts she makes, she sells them informally. Adiela is Inga from Nariño and throughout her life has been dedicated to weaving wool from the Inga symbolology. She is a housewife and works in the chagra (that is, she grows products for home consumption). She is also part of the women who work to strengthen the ancestral knowledge of the territory, through the teaching of weaving that has been inherited from her grandparents. Andrea is Inga from Nariño, she is dedicated to weaving in wool and mustard. She learned the knowledge of weaving from her mother and now continues to capture the culture through each craft she makes.
