I hope everyone had their pom-poms ready and their best maroon on this past Wednesday, February 25th, when the Fordham women’s basketball team played Davidson College at our very own Rose Hill Gymnasium! A special celebration of Senior Night, honoring our incredible senior players and dazzling Fordham dance team members. Those who were there caught an exciting game; the team played ferociously. Especially with our game leaders on the frontlines. Like our guard Carryn Easley, who came in clutch with assists, and Emma Wilson-Saltos, who secured six rebounds. It was a close game that had us on the edge of our seats, so I hope you cheered the loudest, decked out in your best Fordham Spes Nova merch. And if you could take your eyes off the thrilling game for a second, then you definitely saw the Spes Nova team cheering too. 

Spes Nova was there not only to show our support for our glorious women’s team, but also to make sure our student body and faculty had the right swag to represent Fordham by sharing our artisan-made products with the school community. This sales event marked Spes Nova’s return to campus for this semester, and we started the year off strong with a great first sale! If you stopped by our table, then you got a close look at our best sellers: our Fordham-branded wallets and maroon and white beaded bracelets… and yes, you guessed it…our knitted scarves and sweaters! We still have some of our knitwear in stock, perfect for all the snowy weather we’ve been having. Sweaters and scarves are selling out quickly, though, so make sure you get yours before March Madness starts, so you can cheer on our basketball teams in style while staying warm. Don’t worry if you weren’t able to stop by our table and score a sweater at this sale! We will have more sales throughout the semester, with our next one on Palm Sunday, March 29th, from 10-12:45 pm in front of the church on campus. This event will be in collaboration with campus ministry and will feature some of our soapstone products, such as angel figurines from our artisan partners in Kenya. You definitely do not want to miss it!
